Database Analysis

Enhancing Databases Through User Engagement and Evaluation
In librarianship, enhancing databases involves not only technical analysis but also meaningful engagement with users. Librarians collaborate with users to refine databases and improve how they meet users' organizational and finding needs. Librarians ground design decisions in both theoretical and practical frameworks.

As examples of database design and technical analysis, I have included my projects with the National Neonatal Research Database and Louisiana Deafblind Child Count Database.

My third example reconsiders the thesaurus construction and metadata schema of the IDA Treaties Explorer to better integrate US social studies' curricular standards into this resource. Our group hoped to make the primary source content in the Treaties Explorer more findable for social studies teachers.
